Deanna grew up on an acreage near Leduc, Alberta with horses, dogs, cats, a goat, and motorbikes. She cherished the open spaces and simplicity of her childhood. She attended public school from K-12, eventually moving to Edmonton. She received her Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta and taught elementary school until her first child was born. She completed a Master of Arts from Kairos University in 2024 along with a certificate in Spiritual Direction. Deanna values relationships, hearing people’s stories, and journeying alongside others. She also enjoys her morning solitude with a cup of coffee and her journal. Some of her favorite things are gathering around the table with her family, family ski vacations, bird watching, and exploring nature.
Deanna and her husband Jeremy raised and home educated their three children through high school and beyond. They first considered homeschooling when they decided to travel to Costa Rica for a year with their young family. Once exposed to the possibilities that homeschooling offered they never looked back. Homeschooling allowed them the time and space to fully enjoy and intentionally disciple their children. They appreciated the slower pace of life for their family to learn, read, play, explore, and grow together. As Deanna homeschooled her children, she learned alongside them and grew in her understanding and appreciation of God’s beautiful world. She is very grateful for the gift of home education, as it has been her greatest joy and purpose.
Deanna has now been homeschooling for the past 15 years, and she is excited to continue her journey in home education with the WISDOM family. They have been an invaluable resource to her over the years, and she looks forward to working with families and the WISDOM staff.
