Born and raised in the captivating city of Paris, France, Lydie embarked on a journey marked by a profound passion for culture and history. These formative years served as the foundation for countless adventures across Europe, from the vibrant shores of Spain to the artistic treasures of Italy, the picturesque landscapes of the Netherlands, the rich history of Greece, and the serene beauty of Switzerland. Each experience broadened her horizons and deepened her appreciation for languages and diverse cultures.

In 2004, Lydie took a significant step by relocating to London, England to improve her English before deciding to do her Bachelor in Education to teach English Language Arts in France (which is what she was studying for). There she loved the city so much that she took the resolution to take her Bed at the University of Uxbridge in West London. Over the subsequent four years, she had the privilege of teaching French, Italian, and Spanish to underprivileged students aged 7 to 13 at a comprehensive school. These years were among the most challenging and profoundly rewarding of her teaching career, as she witnessed the transformation of students who had previously faced educational obstacles. It’s also there that she realised the impact that having a strong family foundation could be on children’s well-being. God planted a seed there, but she didn’t know it yet.

During her time in London, a twist of fate brought Lydie into contact with her future husband, an Italian-Canadian teacher with a passion for Science, Math, and Physics. His persuasive charm eventually led her to Alberta, Canada, where their journey as a couple and educators continued.

For the following five years, they made their home in the tranquil town of Hinton, AB, where Lydie passionately shared her love for French and Spanish with students ranging from Grade 4 to Grade 10. Immersed in the Alberta curriculum for Junior High and High School, her role as an educator continued to evolve. One of the most exciting chapters of this journey was the opportunity to teach a Kindergarten French Immersion class, expanding her teaching horizons even further.

In 2016, Lydie and her husband decided to make Red Deer, AB, their new home. This marked the beginning of a unique and transformative chapter in their lives—homeschooling their two beloved children. This decision was driven by their realisation that their oldest son's learning style thrived outside the traditional classroom. Homeschooling allowed them to nurture a deep love for learning within their family, instill enduring values rooted in their faith, and bear witness to their children's remarkable growth into well-rounded individuals.

Beyond her roles in education and homeschooling, Lydie's active participation in the local church community brings her immense joy. Leading and teaching Sunday school allows her to contribute to the spiritual growth of the next generation. Her love for reading not only enriches her life but also that of their children, whom she has the pleasure of reading to almost every day. During those rare moments of leisure, she explored the art of crocheting through YouTube tutorials, embraced the enchanting world of the cello, and, more recently, ventured into trying the guitar again. Whenever Canadian summers bless them with their presence, Lydie, Angelo, and their two children, eagerly seize the opportunity to explore the breathtaking landscapes of this vast and beautiful country, when they’re not travelling in Europe.

Embracing her role as a high school subject specialist at WISDOM, Lydie brought with her the wisdom gained through international teaching experiences and the unique journey of homeschooling, all guided by her unwavering faith in God. And now, her blessings continue to manifest as she has had the absolute privilege to serve as a homeschool facilitator. This is not merely a job for her; it's a personal mission that aligns with what she believes to be God's plan for her life. Lydie is genuinely excited to share the experiences, insights, and profound life lessons she's gathered along the way with the WISDOM School community. Together, with God's grace, they will celebrate the beauty of homeschooling and embrace the rich tapestry of diversity it brings to the world of education.
