Diane and I met in high school and were married in 1981 in Calgary. Before our children were born, Diane taught English and French in senior and junior high school. I was formerly a Financial Analyst, then made a career change and became a high school Physics and Chemistry teacher. I was blessed to be offered a position with WISDOM in the fall of 1997 and am now in my 18th year of facilitating. Diane and I have also volunteered together in our church in the marriage preparation ministry for many years.
We have five children: Joanne who is 29 years old and working as a Paramedic, Mark who is 27 and working as a Mechanical Engineer, Theresa who is 25 and has completed a BSc in Environmental Horticulture and owns and operates a Landscape Construction company with Elaine who is 23 and has completed the Civil Engineering Technology program at SAIT, and Monica who is 15 and in grade 11 at home. We live southwest of Calgary on a lovely acreage, where we run a greenhouse in the spring.
What drew us to home schooling were the young adults that Diane met while attending a home schooling conference in 1997. Since that time, many home schooling families have been a real inspiration to us. Home schooling has helped us keep our primary focus on our faith and our family, while allowing our children to pursue excellence in academics, as well as their individual interests.
We constantly face many challenges in our efforts to live prayerful lives characterized by simplicity and order. We are always working towards strengthening our marriage and family life, and it is our hope that our family, our academic pursuits, and all we do give glory to God.
